The Bonmarart Leewik (Strong Ancestors) Project

The Bonmarart Leewik (Strong Ancestors) project is a Your Community Heritage project funded by the Department of the Environment. It has been put together with a team of academic staff from Victoria University (Carolyn Woodley, Stewart Taylor and Megan Chudleigh) with assistance from multimedia students Nick Singh, Kyle Privitera, Ed Spurrier and Mazzy Star. The submission was developed in consultation with Karen Jackson and Mat Jakobi from Moondani Balluk at Victoria University.

The Project Name

The project’s Woi-wurrung name Bonmarart Leewik means Strong Ancestors and was provided by the Wurundjeri Tribe Land & Compensation Cultural Heritage Council Incorporated.
